As we all expected Manchester United appointed David Moyes as their new manager after Sir Alex Ferguson called an end to his time at the helm, but it’s going to be a tricky start for Moyes if the rumors surrounding Wayne Rooney can be believed.
If the rumors are true, then Wayne Rooney has asked to leave Manchester United yet again, but Sir Alex insisted that he is not for sale this summer, and we thought that would be the end of it, but today’s developments have continued the story. Manchester United have confirmed that David Moyes will be in full control of the Rooney situation when he takes over United on July 1st, and that it is his decision as to whether he sells Rooney or not. There’s two ways this is going to be sorted, either Moyes sits down with Rooney and convinces him to stay, although Rooney is still under contract so he can only leave with the clubs approval. But if Rooney really wants to leave, then let him, sure he is an incredible player and we would miss his performances, but if he’s unhappy then he shouldn’t be playing for Manchester United.
Besides Wayne Rooney, the summer looks like it will be an interesting time for United, the rumors about a return for Christiano Ronaldo are still going strong, many of them suggesting that United will have to part with the likes of Nani and Anderson to bring him to the club, but there’s also the players Moyes currently manages. It wouldn’t be unusual to see him bring a couple of his players to the new job with him, the likes of Leighton Baines would be a welcome sight at United, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one.
As a Manchester United fan myself, I’m pretty excited to see what happens under David Moyes, he has always been a fantastic manager and I’ve enjoyed watching Everton play under him, as far as the transfers go, we have these rumors every year and hardly any of them materialize so I’m holding off hope of Ronaldo coming back, for now.
